About Me

Maureen Hall, a native of Kansas City, trained at the Somerset Ballet Centre (under Jane Pierce and Peggy Ply) and at the Kansas City Ballet School. She had the privilege of learning and performing in many classical ballet roles as a member of the Somerset Ballet Company, including Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Myrtha (Giselle), and Marie Taglioni (Pas de Quatre). Maureen studied on full scholarship at the Joffrey and Milwaukee Ballet schools. She was offered a Trainee position at the Milwaukee Ballet but chose to attend the University of Kansas on a full 4 year dance scholarship. While at KU, she studied and performed alongside former Joffrey principal dancer, Jerel Hilding. She received the Elizabeth Sherbon Award, an honor given to one Senior a year for excellence in the academic classroom and dance studio. She received her BA, graduating with distinction. Maureen continued her professional career in Dallas, Texas as a member of The Dance Consortium. She performed a mixed repertoire of classical and contemporary works, and was a featured dancer in their holiday production of “The Littlest Angel”. She also began doing lecture demonstrations in schools throughout Dallas, something she would continue to do later with Wylliams/Henry Dance Theatre in KC. Maureen was one of 3 female dancers chosen for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, starring the Rockettes. She spent four years dancing to Christmas Carols, wearing pointe shoes in a very heavy costume, and portraying a shepherd with a real sheep! Maureen has taught ballet for over 20 years. She hopes her students continue to love and appreciate ballet as much as she does!

Memorable moments- Aug 20, 2020

I had the absolute pleasure of teaching the students of the Leap of Dance Academy in Nigeria. They were the most polite and enthusiastic kids and their smiles melted my heart!
